Trailhead 2019 Student Guides  2

Each school year we hire for the following positions:

  • Trailhead Student Directors (2 positions)
  • Trailhead Student Guides (32 positions)
  • Trailhead TRAIL Team Members (6 positions)

Trailhead Student Directors

Applications for Trailhead 2022 Student Directors closed on November 1, 2021.

What the role consists of:

  • Meeting with Trailhead professsional and graduate staff for leadership skills developent and reflection
  • Recruit, interview, select, and train other members of the Trailhead Leadership Team
  • Marketing for applications and registrations
  • Lead virtual trainings
  • Organize and prepare supplies
  • Engage with program curriculum

What is the time commitment?

10 hrs/week in the Spring Semester; 10 hrs/week May-July; 30 hrs/week during event week

Will I be compensated?

Yes. You will be paid $9.25/hour.

When can I apply?

The application process for the Student Director position begins in October of the fall semester. Trailhead Student Guides

What the role consists of:

  • Work with another student guide as a team
  • Guide, support, and facilitate conversation for a small group of 10-12 incoming students
  • Facilitate icebreakers, developmental activities, and meaningful conversation within small groups 
  • Participating in all large-group sessions, meals, and other scheduled events
  • Student Guides should be excited to help incoming students learn about leadership and connect with others as they begin their journey at Appalachian State

What is the time commitment?

4 virtual trainings at different points through the summer (dates will be specified on the official job position description); August 15-17; various optional social events throughout the spring semesters and summer.

Will I be compensated? 

Yes. You will be paid $8.25/hour.

Trailhead TRAIL Team

What the role consists of:

  • Lead logistic responsibilities for the overall coordination of the Trailhead program
  • Ensure our facilities, technology, supplies, materials, and other resources are accounted for and prepared
  • Be part of the Trailhead program in various capacities
  • Because the TRAIL Team role primarily involves responsibilities related to task execution and organization, applicants for this role should have high confidence in their ability to manage details.

What is the time commitment?

4 virtual trainings at different points through the summer (dates will be specified on the official job position description); August 15-17; various optional social events throughout the spring semesters and summer.
